Ingenuity meets fashion

I got sucked in by the Rockwear sale. It’s really not hard, the company is incredibly inclusive, caters for women who have curves and is super down to earth. So needless to say when they have a sale I find it takes a lot of self control not to buy new workout gear. With Toowoomba hitting 0.3 of a degree when I rose at 5am to workout earlier this week it just made sense to purchase more tights.

The brief to my rockwear assistant was ‘fun tights’ and she handed me some statement tights and some block coloured tights in great hues. All of them fit perfectly, as most women know that’s your wallets worst nightmare because then you have to decide what you will leave behind. But I made my decision in the end & I think my grandad would be proud, of me and Rockwear.

One of the pairs of tights I picked are made of recycled plastic. Yes you heard right. I’ve never bought tights like these before & they are insanely comfortable. Never in my life did I imagine I’d be wearing plastic bottles on my legs. Funny thought isn’t it?

I can envisage my grandfather if he was still alive sitting in his chair & thinking about all the ingenious ways plastic could be used & exclaiming ‘ooh gee that’s creative’ in his cute British accent. It would have given him months of entertainment & research to do at his local library about what other great ideas that are now possible with the technology we have.

As I headed to containers for change to return my bottles I giggled. Here’s another pair of pants.

I’ve understood for a long time the importance of conscious clothing but reusing plastic is incredibly important especially with the great garbage disposal (research) that sits in the ocean. I know conscious clothing is more expensive but it’s definitely worth that positive feeling you get from knowing just maybe your recycling efforts ended up back as a product you use, perhaps even to keep you warm.

Are you a conscious clothing purchaser? Here’s my favourites from Rockwear.
